Rock Cycle!

Hi! today I’m going to share with you my Rock Cycle blog with a cave with the rocks from the cycle. This science was self directed this mean I chose what I did and made my own learning goal. Here is a picture of my planning sheet!

What is the Rock Cycle!

When magma comes up from a volcano later when the magma  gets cooled by the air, it turns into igneous rock. Wind and other natural forces make igneous rock turn into very small rocks. When the little pieces of rock get washed away by water, all of the parts will form sedimentary rocks. Some of those sedimentary rocks get pushed down by the atomic plates and become metamorphic rocks. As metamorphic rocks get pushed down even deeper, it turns into magma which starts the whole cycle all over again.

Hi! Today I am going to share about my innovation day project. It is a medieval castle with a working drawbridge!

Information about the first kind of castle!

The first kind of castle was made of wood. It had a wooden wall all around the castle. In the castle is a keep which is on a hill. Under the hill is a ditch. that ditch and hill is called a motte. The motte and keep is overloking a bailey.This kind of castle is called a motte and bailey castle.

  Information about drawbridges!

drawbridges are made for defence! In the middle ages castles had a moat around the castle to cross the moat people used drawbridges. Drawbridges could be raised and lowered. When enemies came to the castle the pepole inside the castle riased the drawbridge so the enemy cant get in! To make the drawbridge move inside the castle is a big pully and gear system.

 

Serfs and Lords !

Serfs and Lords are different things: a serf is a servant for the lord . Lords are very rich people who own a lot of land.Often serfs spend most of there life on a farm and make food for the lord.Serfs live in mud houses. the house had one room!When the crops failed the lord blamed it on the serfs. After the crops failed the lord would take the limited amounT OF FOOD FOR HImSelf.

Knights!

It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, young men in the Middle Ages learned how to use a weapon.Foot soldiers learned to fight with an axe and a long spear called a pike. The best soldiers were knights.Knights were soldiers who fought on horseback.If you want to be a knight you need to pay for horses and armor. You also need to find someone to train you.Knights also make some money by looting and holding certain people for ransom.When you are being trained you start as a page then a squire then a knight.

Conclusion!

 

IN conclusion i did not make my pulley system how i planned.I had planned to put my pulley system on the tower.I planed by making a pulley on two wood pieces to hold the pulley and more wood to hold up the geer.the string would be   attached to a holl in the middle of the geer and then I would wrap it around the geer then when I turned the geer the bridge would rise.
Instead of my pulley system on the towers I put the system in my castle.If you want to see the system look at my results video!
My castle design was the same as my hypothesis.

Looking back at my castle the one thing I would change is making rooms in my castle.

Hi everyone I am going to share my persuasive text with you let’s get started!

How would you feel if the world was always noisy from barks and meows? You would not be able to move because everywhere you go another person would be walking their dog? I am 100%  sure that not all families should own a pet. My main reasons are they won’t be special, they can get hurt and it will be too crowded.

If everyone owned a pet then owning a pet wouldn’t be that special. For example, in my class, I am the only person who has a striped cat and one with extra toes. My cat is unique and that makes me feel good. If everyone owned a pet,  there would be too many animals of the same type.If there are too many animals of the same type then everyone’s pet will be identical so your pet won’t be special. It is clear that not everyone should own a pet because it will be too common and not unique.

Secondly, I strongly believe that not everyone should own a pet because your pet can get hurt. For instance, in my neighbourhood, there is a cat called Charlie who deliberately goes out and hurts other animals. We keep our cats inside at night because of this.  Another example of why not everyone should own a pet is that your pet can get mistaken for another animal. For example, I was once told about a cat who came back at a different time than usual and it was the wrong cat! Another way your pets can get hurt is by there not being enough food.  If everyone owned a pet, the pet food companies would run out of food and people would be running out of supplies to make more pet food then the food chain would be destroyed. If there is not enough food, the animals will starve. Wouldn’t it be so sad if your cat got hurt by a dog? 

Thirdly, I am certain not everyone should own a pet because it will be too crowded. For example, it will be too hard to run and move if there are animals everywhere. Another reason there will be too much noise is by dogs barking and cats meowing. You probably didn’t know that 30% of local noise is made by dogs howling day and night. I don’t think I could imagine all that noise all the time. My last reason is that there is not enough space in the world for everyone to own a pet. That is why I think not everyone should own a pet!

In conclusion, I am certain not everyone should own a pet. This is because your pet can get hurt, your pet won’t be special and the world will be too crowded. Instead of everyone getting a pet you can get a beautiful plant! GO BUY THAT PLANT NOWE YOU WON’T REGRET IT!

Hi, I am showing you the beginning of the first page of my story!

Chapter 1  The angry teacher 

Bring bring.

“We need to get to the last class of the day,” said Jessica. “I am excited for the last class because then we get to go home for the weekend,” said Ruby.

“I am so tired” said Ella.”The day is almost done then you can go home for the weekend and sleep”said Ruby.

“We need to get to class now,” said Jessica.“ You are right,” said Ella.

“Grade 7 is so hard,” said Ruby as they ran to class.

“I am too tired to move on”said Ella “I am getting a bit tired too”said Ruby.

“I am just a bit tired,” said Jessica.

“This is the worst class ever,” Ella said. 

“I know I wish we could skip class,” said Jessica.

Ruby said “we should just fall asleep and wake up when the bell rings”

“I am up for that”said Ella.

“Same” said Jessica.

5 minutes later…

“What are you all doing asleep in my math class?”yelled the math Teacher . But the three friends didn’t wake up.

Hi today I am going to show you my personal recount!

what is a personal recount? A personal recount is a piece of writing that happens to you in the past.

What do you need to add in a personal recount?

  • past tense verbs,
  • chronological order
  • use transition  words like,  first ,next,finally         

Trip to Disney world

Before Covid, my dad and I went on a trip to Florida. First, we flew from Ottawa to Florida very early one morning. When we arrived in Florida, we took the bus to Disney World. On the bus, there were seats like couches and movies that showed stuff about Disney World.

Then, we got checked into the hotel. The beautiful hotel had a bar where we could get food. I had croissants. Next, we went on rides and ate candy. We went to Animal Kingdom. I saw bats, lions, tigers, elephants, zebras and giraffes. I liked to see them all. We also went on a ride there where you could see animals besides you. Some were in cages (like the bats) and others were in a giant fenced area. I ate a giant cookie bigger than my head and a giant donut bigger than my head.

Later, I went to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. I saw a girl on stilts there! We went on more rides and ate more candy and then went on even more rides. My favourite ride was Splash Mountain. You go in a tube thing with a bunch of other people and go down a waterslide on a river. I was so excited because it was fun. Finally, we bought stuffies and we went to bed. I can’t wait to go back to Disney World!
